Location Guide

Horseshoe Bend Park

A preserve located right in the heart of North Raleigh, Horseshoe Bend Park offers a more nature-filled session with wide open fields, gorgeous wild meadows, lush grass and clover, as well as dense woods. Parts of the trail also include river access for pups who love water! This location is stunning in Summer and Fall. With plenty of space and trails to choose from, this is a great spot for pet owners whose dogs may need a bit of space.

Portions of Horseshoe Bend Park are wheelchair accessible, though, not all trails are easily accessible.

Historic Oak View Park

One of the hidden gem’s in Raleigh, Historic Oak View Park is a gorgeous backdrop for your pet’s session. Oak View has a more rustic feel with old barns and buildings alongside wide open fields and a walnut grove. During certain times of the year, wildflowers are also present. For more adventurous sessions, there is a wonderful pine forest, stream, and ivy covered trails to check out as well. To add, Oak View is one of my favorite places to shoot for pup’s who need more space. Depending on the date and time of our session, Oak View is usually very quiet. One side note, Oak View does have chickens and goats, so may not be ideal for our four-legged friends who cannot be around farm animals or who may have a high-prey drive.

Many portions of Historic Oak View Park are wheelchair accessible.

North Carolina Art Museum

A mixture of natural scenery, unique textures, and modern architecture, the NCMA offers a wide variety of backdrops to create a truly beautiful session for your pup. This location is generally very busy no matter the season, so it is recommended for pups who are okay being near and seeing a lot of other dogs, people, distractions, etc. This is a great option for those looking for multiple locations in one session combining the urban and modern with the natural world. Certain times of the year, wildflowers and sunflowers are available at this location.

Both the exterior and interior of the North Carolina Art Museum are wheelchair accessible.

Raleigh Rose Garden

A quaint rose garden nestled away in the heart of Downtown Raleigh, the Raleigh Rose Garden has a renaissance feel to it. With multiple archways, stonework, rose beds, and other neat details, it provides a session that is equally stunning and individual. This location can be busy at times, but is usually pretty quiet earlier in the week for photos.

Raleigh Rose Garden has certain sections that are accessible by wheelchair.

Dix Park Sunflowers - Mid-July Only

Dix Park is awash with a field of tall, vibrant sunflowers during mid-July. For some, this iconic location is the ideal backdrop for their portrait session. While this location is easily accessible for both pets and people, it is highly trafficked with people, kids, and dogs. This location is only recommended for highly focused pups or pups who do well with lots of distractions.

As the sunflowers are only available during one of the hottest months of the year, traditionally only morning sessions are offered for safety.

Falls / Jordan Lake

For our water loving pups! Falls and Jordan Lake have many great options for photos. From sandy, beachy areas to pebble shorelines, docks, and forested areas, these lakes garner a ton of variety in their natural beauty. Not all parts of our lake locations are easily accessible and do require a bit more walking / hiking than other locations. Even for pups who need a bit more space, there are so many places we can host our water sessions. These locations are ideal for warmer temperature months as well to keep pups cool during their session.
