This page will outline next steps in order to redeem your session with me. Please be sure to read it carefully and in it’s entirety as there is a lot of important for me to cover with you.
As an FYI, winners will have the option to choose from a complimentary session or upgrade their session for everyone in their pack if interested. But, absolutely no pressure to do so!

Let’s Fetch Your Session
As one of twelve grand prize winners, your prize includes a complimentary session to photograph your featured calendar portrait; however, you are welcome to upgrade to the full Five Freedoms Photography experience should you desire.
A full Five Freedoms Photography Pet Portrait Experience is valued at $250, but as a thank you for all of the incredible support, a session upgrade exclusive to calendar contest winners is only $95.
This upgraded option is especially great for anxious, shy, or reactive dogs as you will have more time for your session along with access to more location options that may be better suited to your dog’s personality and temperament.
Upgrading your session will also allow you to:
- Add additional pets and/or people to your session making it an experience for the whole family
- Choose your own preferred session date / time outside of the pre-determined calendar contest session dates and locations
- Select a favorite location of choice that’s meaningful to you and your animal within the Raleigh-Durham area

Our complimentary sessions are short and sweet! These sessions will be held in August 2025 on pre-selected dates and times at specific locations. Therefore, you’ll want to book your session sooner than later to ensure availability and flexibility for your own schedule.

A pre-determined date, time, and location in Raleigh from our calendar contest session dates

UPGRADED SESSION
The upgraded session is a great option for those who want the full Five Freedoms Photography experience… and then some. The upgrade fee is just $95 (a $155 savings) off of our standard Pet Portrait Experience fee. Choose this option is you want a truly customized experience.
Winners who choose this session and who wish to purchase additional artwork options can expect to invest at least $2000+ from their session depending on your selected of finished artwork.

FAQs
What if I’m not able to make any of the Calendar Contest session dates?
We try to offer calendar contest session dates that work well for a variety of schedules. As stated in the Terms&Conditions for the contest, any winner that is unable to make a session date will forfeit their session and the must submit a hi-resolution image for printing in the calendar instead. There is also the option to upgrade your session for just $95 to choose your preferred date and time. Locations outside of Raleigh will incur a travel fee in addition to an upgraded session fee.
Do I have to upgrade my session?
Of course not! We run the contest on a pro-bono basis… By offering upgraded sessions to interested participants, it is one way that we are able to cover the cost of our time running the calendar contest for our selected rescue of choice. But, there is no pressure or obligation to upgrade a session if you don’t want to!
What if I am not located in Raleigh?
All animals must be able to travel to Raleigh for their session, otherwise, they will forfeit their session and must submit an image to the calendar instead. The exception to this is for clients who upgrade their session and pay a travel fee as well as a session fee.
Will I get to choose what month my animal will be featured?
As it’s hard to know until all of the sessions are photographed which animal will fit in what month, Joanne reserves the creative decisions on behalf of the calendar design.
When will the calendar be released?
The calendar will be released online on November 1st benefitting Animal Aid Alliance.
How much are the calendars?
The calendars will be anywhere from $29-40 per calendar depending on size plus shipping.
Shipping from createphotocalendars.com can get pricey at $8 to start, but the more calendars you buy, the cheaper it gets. Many people bought calendars together or bulk ordered them to save on shipping, which is also an option.
How are the calendar funds used?
Much like with the calendar contest, all of the funds from calendar sales are donated back to Animal Aid Alliance to help them in their mission of supporting rescues and shelters across North Carolina with much needed funding and support.
Post-Session Details
After our session together, Joanne will choose the final image that will be used in the calendar along with the month the image best coincides with. She will also send each contestant a proofing gallery with additional images from their session.
Contestants do have the option to purchase additional images and products from their session if they so choose, but there is no obligation to do so.
We ask that all contestants keep their calendar image secret until the calendar goes live on November 1st.
