May 2025 Adoptables

Each month, I host a Foster Photo Day as a free resource to help local fosters and rescues have access to professional imagery to help their pups be seen (and hopefully) adopted.

The goal is to give harder to adopt pups, such as the ones listed below, an edge in standing out among the millions of animals available for adoption.

These dogs are usually, but not always:

  • Older (usually 3 years of age or older)

  • Might have medical needs

  • Potentially have some kind of behavioral issues, like reactivity or needing to be the only pet

  • Are a restricted breed, like bully breeds

  • Are black in color (Black dogs are much less likely to get adopted in the shelter in a very common phenomenon called Black Dog Syndrome)

  • Or have just been overlooked for one reason or another

  • Have been in foster for a significant period of time; typically months, if not, years

Since the inception of this program back in October of 2021, we’ve photographed well over 300+ pups in foster across the Triangle through multiple rescues.

If you’d like to learn more about Foster Photo Day or register your own foster, you can do so here. This initiative is open to any and all rescues across the Triangle that have dogs in foster that need professional imagery at no cost.

If you want to learn more about our Mission to help reduce animal overpopulation and homelessness in our state, read more about that here.

You can also support our Rescue Photography with a monetary contribution or pick up something for the pups off of our Rescue Photography Wishlist!

Without further ado, here are the adorable pups I had the pleasure to meet and photograph as part of our May Foster Photo Day! Feel free to share their profile or this post with anyone you know that might be looking to adopt.

BEANSIE - WAKEGOV PETS

Beansie is spayed and ready to go home today!

Beansie is an absolutely gorgeous, extremely shy girl who has quickly stolen the hearts of all the volunteers. She is in search of a patient and understanding home. She has likely faced challenging experiences in her past, leading her to cower / freeze in fear of anything which scares her. Despite her initial apprehension, you can see in her eyes that she carries a resilient spirit - she does begin to trust again once you get on her level and shower her with booty scratches, letting her get to know you at her own pace.

This sweet soul of a dog craves a calm and loving home where patience will be the key to unlocking her true, wonderful self.

During a recent playgroup session, she initially was withdrawn. However, five minutes later a friendly, confident male dog brought out the best in her. By the end of the play session, she was wrestling, grabbing legs, and chasing him. Watching her transformation was the sweetest sight to behold!

She is up to date on vaccinations, flea/tick, and heartworm prevention, is microchipped, and is already spayed. If you have dogs or cats, we recommend slow introductions over time. If you have children in your home, we recommend supervision between animals and children at all times.

LIMP BIZKIT - WAKEGOV PETS

Special needs puppy alert!

Meet Limp Bizkit! We just call him Bizkit, but as 90s lovers, we could not pass up the opportunity to give him a cool name to match his unique story.

Our little buddy came into foster after being hit by a car, and having to have his back leg amputated. We then discovered he is also blind. This poor little guy is the best tale of resilience and genuine love. Despite his tragic encounter, and possibly difficult start to life, he is a happy, playful, loving puppy.

He gets around very well on his three legs and is learning to navigate the world without vision. He is playful with toys and loves other dogs. He is in a foster home with several other dogs and gets along beautifully with all of them. He uses them to help with his vision impairment by following them around and touching them often to get his bearings.

You will see his best friend, Desmond (254533) in his photos (who is also available for adoption). They do not have to be adopted together by any means, but they love each other. We do think he would do best in a home with another dog to be his "seeing eye dog".

He does well with all people, but sometimes is fearful at first, because he cannot see you. Once he knows you and meets you properly, he wants to snuggle and cuddle immediately. He is relatively low energy, but does like to run and frolic in the yard. He does well on his leash, though we don't take him on long walks yet.

He is potty trained already and knows sit. He wants to be near you all the time or sleeping close by. We do not crate him, but he hangs out in a hall bathroom when we are not home and has shown no signs of destructive behavior. He loves dog beds and cozy fleeces. He is very sweet and easygoing. He will make such a wonderful addition to a family.

We are looking for someone, or a family, who will be patient with him as he continues to build confidence, and will understand his special needs. He will repay you with endless love and the cutest head tilts. He really is a very well behaved, well mannered, easy dog. If you are interest in meeting Bizkit, please email his foster mom at hickeym08@gmail.com.

JUNIE - HOPE ANIMAL RESCUE

Junie is a spunky and sweet, 3-year-old pittie. She was in a shelter for 7 months prior to coming to Hope, but now she is soaking up her freedom and is ready to share her fresh start with a forever family!

Junie is super smart and has quickly picked up commands like sit, stay, down, wait, leave it, and come. She’ll gladly show off her skills for snacks! She recently reached her goal weight after being severely underweight, but she will always give you her puppy dog eyes for more food.

Junie is an excellent walker and loves car rides, especially when she gets to go to the pet or hardware store. She loves meeting people! She is fully potty trained.

Junie was the go-to pup for testing dog-friendliness at the shelter. She would thrive in a home with another dog for her to play with and get her zoomies out. She can be mouthy at time so a home with older or no kids would be best.

Junie is spayed and is finishing up heart worm treatment. Her last injection is scheduled for May 2. She will need to rest (no rough play or long walks) for 30 days after. In the meantime, she’s been loving frozen puzzle treats and sniffing out kibble in the yard.

This girl has been through a lot, but her spirit is unbreakable, her heart is huge, and her tail is always wagging. She can’t wait to meet you! Apply to adopt Junie today!

MARCELLA - WAKEGOV PETS

Marcella is a happy, silly girl looking for her second forever home. She was adopted as a puppy but came back recently because her family could not take care of her anymore.
Marcella does well with everyone with proper introductions, which are very important because she's deaf. You really can't tell though, because she's very observant and pays close attention. For a dog that can't hear, she listens really well!

Marcella is looking for a low-key home (she can get kind of amped up in chaos) with a family that will support her journey to wellness. She is a bit overweight and has some joint issues but gets around just fine and loves going for walks. She is house-trained, crate-trained, and very smart. If you're interested in learning more about Marcella, email her foster mom at diadrascritters@gmail.com. You can also see her on Instagram: #marcellawiththegoodears

BUDDY - TRIANGLE BEAGLE RESCUE

Senior boy Buddy was found as a stray by a kind couple in a rural area. The couple was not able to keep Buddy long-term and made sure he got safely to TBR.

Buddy is the sweetest guy! He loves attention and gives the brightest eyes and the cutest prance when he sees his people. He enjoys sniffing around the yard to find all the best smells and taking long naps in his cozy bed. He is very food motivated – he’s a beagle after all! He loves other dogs and does great with children. Buddy is not feeling his best right now, but with some love and TLC, he is on his way to healing.

* Buddy will need follow up appointments with cardiology to monitor his heart condition.

Buddy is sponsored by Ben and Kathy Ector, they wrote: In memory of Ben’s mom, an avid dog lover, who passed away this summer. Her last month was spent in the care of hospice so we think this donation going toward the dear senior and hospice beagles being cared for by TBR is a perfect way to honor her memory.
