Each month, I host a Foster Photo Day as a free resource to help local fosters and rescues have access to professional imagery to help their pups be seen (and hopefully) adopted.
The goal is to give harder to adopt pups, such as the ones listed below, an edge in standing out among the millions of animals available for adoption.
These dogs are usually, but not always:
Older (usually 3 years of age or older)
Might have medical needs
Potentially have some kind of behavioral issues, like reactivity or needing to be the only pet
Are a restricted breed, like bully breeds
Are black in color (Black dogs are much less likely to get adopted in the shelter in a very common phenomenon called Black Dog Syndrome)
Or have just been overlooked for one reason or another
Have been in foster for a significant period of time; typically months, if not, years
Since the inception of this program back in October of 2021, we’ve photographed well over 300+ pups in foster across the Triangle through multiple rescues.

CHUCK - CHARLEY’S K9 RESCUE
Chuck is a four years old Adult male weighing in at 100lbs. He had one owner his whole life until he was recently surrendered to Charley’s K9 Rescue. He is house and crate trained. Good with all people and dogs. Chuck is also extremely affectionate with people, food motivated, and a big boy who doesn’t quite know his size!

Introducing Meatball! Who we lovingly also call curveball.
Don't let his age fool you. At 3 years old, Meatball is still just a big ol puppy. As his trainer, I've worked with him for the past 8 weeks, and he's as smart as they come.
Meatball is a very sweet pal to have. He loves his humans and loves being a part of the party. He prefers to see and know everything that is going on. It's not separation anxiety... it's more like he has fear of missing out on all the fun things going on. How can anyone have fun without Meatball anyways?!?!
Meatball LOVES to go for a ride and he rides like a DREAM. This boy knows his basic obedience commands and is house trained. He knows "about his crate" and understands it's a place of rest... but again, he'd much rather be where the people are.
Meatball is looking for a fully fenced yard and a very large family. The more, the merrier. He's dog friendly and loves to play with all his friends. Meatball is a total "soul dog" for anyone in their 20s looking for a companion. He's also a great family dog.
Meatball needs a home with a family that will continue the work. If you want him to walk perfectly on leash, you'll need to be VERY consistent about his structured walks and expectations. Meatball does not offer respect to just anyone. He is smart enough to know who makes him follow the rules and who doesn't. Consistency will be key in these areas.
Meatball just wants to be your best bud, and he packs a ton of love. A house full of boys, an extra large family with carpool... the options are endless. Meatball comes with hands-on one v one training from me to adopters.
MARY BERRY - HOPE ANIMAL RESCUE
Mary Berry has been taking a well-earned break from the spotlight — turns out, she had a few buns in the oven of her own! As the proud mom of the Pastry Pup litter, she’s spent the last few months raising her little showstoppers. Now that her pups are nearly ready to head off to homes of their own, it’s Mary’s turn to find a cozy spot where she can be the star of the show.
At around 2 years old and 35 pounds, this pittie mix is the perfect combination of playful and affectionate. Mary is endlessly joyful — her tail never stops wagging, and her whole body wiggles with excitement when she sees people. She’s never met a stranger and is the kind of dog who makes fast friends wherever she goes.
Mary loves fetch and chasing toys in the yard, but she’s just as happy curled up next to you on the couch. She’s the perfect mid-size snuggle companion and enjoys being close to her people. She’s smart, food-motivated, and already knows “sit.” With a little consistency and some tasty treats, she’s going to pick up new skills quickly. She’s working on her crate and leash training and doing well so far.

Sassy just completed Heartworm treatment and will be listed on the Charley’s K9 website soon once she’s cleared for adoption!
BYRDIE - CHARLEY’S K9 RESCUE
Byrdie has spent over a year in rescue, waiting for the perfect family to see just how special she is. This resilient girl came to us after being forced to whelp a litter outside on a chain, but that life is long behind her.
Now, Byrdie is embracing every moment of freedom, love, and joy—and she’s ready to share that joy with a forever family!
She’s house and crate trained, full of excitable energy, and always eager for her next adventure. Whether she’s zooming around the yard, soaking up belly rubs, or just living her best life, Byrdie is a reminder of how strong, loving, and full of life a dog can be, no matter their past.

Byrdie is a 1 year old that came to Charleys after completing a training and evaluation program. She was surrendered after nursing a litter while living on a chain. She is 46lbs, male dog friendly, great in public and walks great on a leash.
MELODY - PERFECTLY IMPERFECT PUPS
If happiness had four legs and a wagging tail, it would be named Melody! This goofy, fun-loving pup is equal parts cuddle bug and energetic athlete. Her absolute favorite thing in the world? Chasing a soccer ball! She could dribble, pounce, and fetch all day long—seriously, if fetch were a sport, she’d be an MVP.
But don’t let her zoomies fool you—Melody also has a softer side. When the games are over, she’s all about snuggles and will happily curl up next to you for some well-earned rest. She’s sweet, silly, and just the right amount of derpy to keep you laughing every day.
Melody is a rockstar on walks and loves getting out for adventures. She’s still figuring out how she feels about other dogs in her space, but she’s making great progress! With time and patience, she’s learning that new friends aren’t so bad.
She’s looking for a home that will embrace her love of play, give her plenty of belly rubs, and help her continue to be the best version of herself. A fenced yard for all the ball-chasing would be a dream come true!
