October 2025 Adoptables
Each month, I host a Foster Photo Day as a free resource to help local fosters and rescues have access to professional imagery to help their pups be seen (and hopefully) adopted.
The goal is to give harder to adopt pups, such as the ones listed below, an edge in standing out among the millions of animals available for adoption.
These dogs are usually, but not always:
Older (usually 3 years of age or older)
Might have medical needs
Potentially have some kind of behavioral issues, like reactivity or needing to be the only pet
Are a restricted breed, like bully breeds
Are black in color (Black dogs are much less likely to get adopted in the shelter in a very common phenomenon called Black Dog Syndrome)
Or have just been overlooked for one reason or another
Have been in foster for a significant period of time; typically months, if not, years
Since the inception of this program back in October of 2021, weβve photographed well over 300+ pups in foster across the Triangle through multiple rescues.
If youβd like to learn more about Foster Photo Day or register your own foster, you can do so here. This initiative is open to any and all rescues across the Triangle that have dogs in foster that need professional imagery at no cost.
If you want to learn more about our Mission to help reduce animal overpopulation and homelessness in our state, read more about that here.
You can also support our Rescue Photography with a monetary contribution or pick up something for the pups off of our Rescue Photography Wishlist!
Without further ado, here are the adorable pups I had the pleasure to meet and photograph as part of our October Foster Photo Day! Feel free to share their profile or this post with anyone you know that might be looking to adopt.

WALTER - WAKEGOV PETS
He is like the cool grandpa who shows up to the party and instantly becomes the favorite - chilling with the energetic freshmen while sharing stories from the good old days. Though he's got the seasoned muscles of a senior, his heart is young and full of spirit, happily diving into puppy-like play and even attempting to keep up with all the reindeer games.
He patiently tolerates the overzealous shenanigans of his younger pals and keeps his kennel sparkling clean. Despite weighing over 70 pounds, Walter is easy to collar and walk, making him a perfect companion for those who appreciate the calm, steady love of a senior dog. With Walter, you get a gentle soul with a lifetime of wisdom and a whole lot of heart.
He is up to date on vaccinations, flea/tick, and heartworm prevention, is microchipped, and already neutered. If you have dogs or cats, we recommend slow introductions over time. If you have children in your home, we recommend supervision between animals and children at all times.
ELBY - BEST FRIEND PET ADOPTION
Say hi to Elby! This extremely sweet girl has never met a stranger- she absolutely adores people and thinks other dogs are a TON of fun. We call her Wiggle Butt because that's what happens when she sees a person. While she loves just about every dog she meets, her play style can be hype so a dog who enjoys that will be her best match.
Elby has moderate-high energy. She loves her backyard but would also be okay without one as long as you make time to walk her daily. She walks well on a leash. She has done some agility and scent work and loves to learn. While she's excited to see people out and about she also is getting good at settling in public places and enjoys a trip to Petsmart or the local brewery. She also rides very well in the car and would make an excellent adventure buddy! Once she's had her exercise, a nap on the couch is her next favorite thing.
Elby is house and crate trained and stays loose in "her" room while her foster is out. Due to her excitement and energy Elby is not a great fit for kiddos under the age of 12. She is not suited for a home with cats. She has worked hard in training and knows a lot including sit, down, touch, wait, and spin. Her foster is a dog trainer and anyone who adopts Elby will be given 3 free "transition" sessions to learn her cues and help her settle in!

COZY COTTON - WAKEGOV PETS
Cozy Cotton just joined the WakeGov Pets family! Be sure to check their website soon for updates!
He is a sweet, wiggly puppy who is ready to bring joy and snuggles into your life. Linguini loves meeting new people and is quick to give kisses and accept affection. However, there is nothing in the world he loves more than his toys. You won't often see Linguini without his stuffed bunny toy or flamingo toy next to him. You can cancel your Netflix subscription because watching Linguini play with his toys is more entertaining than any tv show.
In the home, Linguini is pretty independent. He is perfectly happy to lay near you and play with his toys all day. He sleeps in his crate overnight and during the day when unsupervised. Linguini is still working on potty training but he never has accidents in his crate, which is why it's beneficial to crate him when unsupervised. He has puppy energy, meaning he loves short play sessions or walks followed by long naps. Linguini loves using snuffle mats and treat dispensing wobble toys for his meals.
Linguini's ideal family will love to play and cuddle. Linguini is only in his crate for 2-3 hours at a time during the day, so he will need a family who works from home or can come home and let him out during the day. Linguini loves to play with other dogs, but needs a family who will continue helping him learn how to take breaks during play. Linguini has not been introduced to cats or children.
Linguini is neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on his vaccines so he is ready for his forever family whenever you are!
If you are interested in learning more about Linguini, check his foster's instagram @winifredandlouie or email his foster at meredith.canty17@gmail.com.
