SUNNY - HOPE ANIMAL RESCUE
Fun fact - Sunny is named after the Bobby Hebb song – “Sunny” because she literally personifies everything in those lyrics:
Sunny, yesterday my life was filled with rain
Sunny, you smiled at me and really eased the pain
Now the dark days are done and the bright days are here
My Sunny one shines so sincere
Sunny one so true, I love you.
Sunny really is a ray of sunshine who is happiest simply being by her people’s side. Whether you're heading out for a walk, tossing a ball or Frisbee in the yard, or spending the day curled up on the couch, Sunny is all in.
Sunny has an incredible way of making her person feel like the center of her world. She'll happily gaze into your eyes and remind you every day what unconditional love looks like. And she has THE best smile - like a Crest commercial worthy smile! Despite all this, Sunny is unfortunately looking for a new home through no fault of her own.
Sunny is wonderful with kids of any age (young and old), she gets along great with other friendly dogs, and has a gentle, submissive personality—even with much smaller dogs - though we always recommend slow and proper intros. She has responded beautifully to training, is eager to please, and is a great listener. Sunny is also house trained, crate trained, walks great on her leash, has great house manners, and is an all-around good girl.
Sunny would do great in a home with another canine companion to play with, but she'd be just as happy soaking up all the attention as your one-and-only. Her only ask – NO CATS. She’s not a fan. I know – who saw that coming, but despite her size she’s just a big ole’ softie.
If you're searching for a faithful best friend who will love you with her whole heart, be down for any adventure or a couch cuddle, Sunny is waiting to brighten your life. All she wants is someone to love—and of course, to love her right back. If you are interested in adopting Sunny – just apply to adopt her at www.hopeanimals.org. I promise – you will be so glad you did.
SIMBA - PERFECTLY IMPERFECT PUPS
Simba is a strikingly handsome, one-year-old Border Collie mix with a heart just as big as his beautiful smile. This sweet boy is ready to find the forever family he’s been waiting so patiently for! He’s neutered, housebroken, up to date on vaccinations, crate trained, and walks like a dream on a leash—truly the total package.
Simba loves a good adventure just as much as he loves winding down afterward. Whether he’s exploring the outdoors, learning something new, or showing off how smart he is, he’s all in. And when the day is done, he’s happiest curled up beside you on the couch, content with some snuggles and his favorite Nylabone.
He’s been working closely with a professional trainer in the Wake County area, and that support will continue with his future family - giving everyone the tools and confidence to build a strong, lasting bond right from the start.
Simba thrives with calm, thoughtful introductions to new people, and once he feels safe, his affectionate, loyal personality truly shines. He already knows sit, down, shake, and place, and he’s eager to keep learning, growing, and making his person proud.
💙 Simba isn’t just looking for a home - he’s looking for his people. Could that be you?

LILY - LENDING PAWS A HAND
Lily is a tough-cookie-on-the-outside, marshmallow-on-the-inside kind of girl. Shes not the type to fall head-over-heels for every stranger she meetsin fact, shell make you earn her trust. But once you do? Youre her person for life. Her loyalty runs deep, and the bond you build with her will be something truly special.
This young pup (about nine months old) is full of energy and loves to play tug-of-war and a good game of chase are her absolute favorites. She also enjoys the company of other dogs and would thrive with a playful canine companion.
Lily can be a bit nervous in new environments and around unfamiliar people, so shes looking for a calm, confident owner who can help guide her and show her the world isnt such a scary place.
She does best with someone patient and steady who understands that building trust takes timebut is so worth it. Shes already potty trained and crate trained (gold star, Lily ), and she’s been spayed and is up-to-date on all her vaccines.
Were not totally sure of her breed mix, but she may have some Dutch Shepherd or Kelpie in her whatever she is, she’s smart, active, and full of personality! Shell likely grow to be around 40-50 pounds.
Speaking of personality... Lily is quite the talker! She’s vocal and isn’t shy about sharing her opinions on whats happening in her home.
SALEM - APS OF DURHAM
Let me cast a spell on you! Hi there, I’m Salem. I’m a bright-eyed, curious boy on a mission to find my new peeps! I am a big fan of toys, treats, and receiving affection on my own terms. Because I like to protect my meals, I just ask that you leave me be while I eat. I’ll thrive with patient people who understand my boundaries and can provide a cozy, quiet retreat to keep me feeling safe. Ready to fall under my spell? Come meet me and adopt me today!
Kids: Recommended for all-adult household
Dogs: Selective about dog friends, forward, pre-adoption dog-to-dog meet needed
More about Salem from his time in foster care:
Salem may be an older pup, but he acts more like a young dog! He loves to play with toys and balls. He’s living with two other dogs in his foster home and has done well with them, and he sleeps peacefully at the foot of the bed through the night, only getting up if one of the other dogs needs to go out.
He’ll bark and growl at dogs he doesn’t know, especially on leash. He needs careful introductions but could do well in a home with another dog who’s a good match for his style.
SOUP - PERFECTLY IMPERFECT PUPS
At 16 years young, Soup has mastered the art of enjoying life’s simple pleasures: warm laps, cozy naps, gentle belly rubs, and being close to his favorite people. He’s the kind of little companion who just wants someone to love him and let him soak up every bit of affection.
Soup has lived peacefully with both dogs and cats. He isn’t interested in making new furry friends and prefers that other animals respect his personal bubble. As long as his housemates aren’t constantly in his face, he’s perfectly happy sharing a home with them.
You might be wondering about his adorable name. We call him Soup because his meals are made into a little “soup” to make eating easier! He’s missing several teeth, so mealtime is a cozy, slurpable affair.
Like many senior dogs, Soup has a few medical needs. He’s on a kidney-friendly diet, has glaucoma in one eye, arthritis in his back legs, and his front legs are deformed. They’ve been that way for the past couple of years, but they don’t define him. He enjoys gentle leg massages and stretches, takes pain medication to stay comfortable, and still happily toddles around for short distances. That said, if you’re looking for a dog who thinks being carried around is the greatest invention ever, Soup is your guy.
Soup isn’t searching for adventure. He’s searching for kindness. He wants a soft bed, a gentle hand, and someone who will treasure him through his golden years. In return, he’ll give you quiet companionship, unconditional love, and the special kind of gratitude that only a senior dog can.
If you’ve been waiting for a tiny shadow to warm your lap and your heart, Soup is ready to meet you.
