Gumbo's 4th Birthday Session

As I always say, every dog deserves to be photographed!

My pups are no exception.

While I don’t get a chance to photograph them as much as I would like, I do try to make a point to give them the full experience at least once a year.

Gumbo’s 4th birthday was on April 1st. I may be a few weeks late, but better late than never as they say!

What made this session hilarious for me was that I was flying solo.

I had to choose a spot that I know he would be familiar with (aka comfortable), wouldn’t have a ton of people around (with his stranger danger), and that allowed me to let him run off leash a bit to capture both portraits and action shots.

This was at a small local park we like to go to that has open recreational fields and wide open skies, which means gorgeous sun rises and sun sets.

Thankfully, on a cloudy Thursday evening, no one else was there. The sun ended up being an unpaid actor shining gloriously through large, fluffy clouds and a bright blue sky.

You should’ve seen me running around trying to play with him while simultaneously holding on to my camera bag, noisemakers, treat pouch, and his long line without losing anything including my head.

Fortunately, Bubba is used to my photography antics and will participate as long as delicious treats were involved. SPOILER ALERT: There were plenty!

Now, I just need to figure out which one I want to hang on the wall. I’m leaning towards this stunning shot below, but take a peek for yourself and let me know in the comments which one is your favorite!
